VALORANT Is Now Live on Console in Australia and New Zealand

VALORANT HAS OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED ON CONSOLE

VALORANT is now officially available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in Australia and New Zealand. Riot Games opened the local Sydney console server on September 23, giving players in both countries a new way to enter the tactical shooter.

The launch expands VALORANT’s console audience while keeping the competitive experience built around each platform’s strengths.

CONSOLE PLAYERS CAN TEAM UP ACROSS PLAYSTATION AND XBOX

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players can play together in the same matches. This means friends using either console can form parties, compete as a team and enjoy the same online experience.

However, console players cannot join matches with PC players. Riot says this decision is designed to protect competitive integrity and keep the experience fair and consistent for everyone.

The separation matters because console and PC players use different control methods. Keeping their matchmaking pools apart allows Riot to maintain a more balanced competitive environment.

YOUR PROGRESSION CARRIES ACROSS PLATFORMS

Players who already have a VALORANT account do not need to start from zero on console. Riot confirms that progress is shared between PC and console through the same account.

Battle Pass progress, recruited Agents, purchased skins and other earned items will remain connected to the player’s account. You can play on PC and later move to console without losing the content you have already unlocked.

This shared progression makes the console launch more welcoming for existing players who want to try a different platform.

NO PLAYSTATION PLUS OR GAME PASS SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED

VALORANT remains free to play on console. Riot confirmed that players do not need an active PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscription to access the game.

Subscribers may receive platform benefits, but a paid subscription is not required to download and play VALORANT on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.

WHY THE LAUNCH MATTERS

The arrival of VALORANT on console in Australia and New Zealand is another step in Riot’s effort to grow the game beyond its PC roots. With shared progression, cross-play between consoles and a separate matchmaking system for PC, the launch aims to bring new players in without changing the competitive identity of VALORANT.

For players in the region, the game is now live and ready to play on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
